Jessica Herrin of Stella & Dot to speak at the 12th Annual Galveston Women’s Conference

GALVESTON, TX – February 27, 2019 – The Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce Jessica Herrin, Author, CEO and Founder of Stella & Dot, as an additional speaker at the 12th Annual Galveston Women’s Conference to be held on Thursday, May 9, 2019, at Moody Gardens Convention Center in Galveston.

Jessica Herrin is a serial entrepreneur who previously co-founded, the world’s leading wedding site. With a vision to create a new kind of company that would offer today’s busy woman a career alternative, Jessica wanted to use her savvy to help solve the modern woman’s dilemma: achieving success and balance through a career you love. Never one to go with the status quo, Jessica felt that the typical home-based business just didn’t deliver. With a lackluster product, high-pressure sales tactics, and old school marketing methods, inventory was ending up in people’s closets with little profit in their pockets.

Jessica’s vision called for an entirely new concept that could guarantee women flexibility, reward, style, profit and fun. With an irresistible product and exceedingly personal service, a proven formula for passionate earning and personal success was born. In 2007, Jessica built a world-class team including esteemed advisor Mike Lohner, sales guru Danielle Redner and Blythe Harris as partner and Chief Creative Officer. Jessica and Blythe named Stella & Dot after their beloved grandmothers.

The Galveston Women’s Conference will also feature a special keynote speaker. Visit to see who it is!

The event brings in more than 1,000 participants from across the region and features dynamic speakers, an incredible vendor market, fitness breaks and more. The event aims to educate women about health and women’s issues, equip them with skills to be successful in life and business, inspire them to be their best, and renew their spirit.

“Over the past 11 years, the Galveston Women’s Conference has brought some amazing voices to the conference, said Gina M. Spagnola, President and CEO of the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce. “This year, we are honored to have Mrs. Bush and Jessica Herrin as well as leading experts on women’s health and wellness from physicians’ at UTMB Health. We are proud to produce this event and provide women access to development opportunities and personal empowerment.”

You have to experience our Virtual Reality Reef Rescue! It’s launching soon!

Guests will don their “diving masks” this spring when Moody Gardens introduces a new attraction on March 9 called Reef Rescue.

The Experience

Fun for the whole family, Reef Rescue is the world’s first high capacity, interactive virtual reality experience! You’ll take a virtual dive into a beautiful 360° coral reef environment with up to 15 other people. And together, you’ll all blast away trash, plant coral branches, and feed fish, restoring the reef to perfect health!

Before the dive, you’ll meet Sting and Bob, a ray and a triggerfish, in their undersea home at the Great Barrier Reef. They’ll explain what corals are, how important they are to the global ecosystem, and why reefs in every ocean are threatened.

“Reef Rescue is an ideal fit for Moody Gardens as it fits right in with our mission of education and conservation, as well as recreation,” said John Zendt, President and CEO of Moody Gardens, who added the virtual reality experience allows guests to take away a greater understanding of how remarkable corals are and the larger role the reefs play in the marine ecosystem, the planet and our individual lives.

Reef Rescue was created by Super 78, a themed attraction and technology studio, along with partners and developers in the field of motion tracking software and hardware. “Super 78 and Moody Gardens have worked together for several years, first collaborating on the SpongeBob SubPants Adventure, the interactive character experience powered by Super 78’s Geppetto system. The attraction and Geppetto were both honored with Thea Awards, the themed entertainment industry’s highest recognition” said Dina Benadon, Super 78’s CEO and Executive Producer.

“Moody Gardens is an ideal location for Reef Rescue” added Brent Young, Super 78’s President and Creative Director. “Unique in America, Moody Gardens has a specific mandate to educate as well as entertain, which fits Reef Rescue’s mission perfectly.”

Reef Rescue opens at Moody Gardens on March 9 inside the Visitor’s Center for a limited engagement. Admission is $7 per guest and $6 for members. $1 from every ticket sold will go toward conservation efforts. It is not included in a Moody Gardens Value Pass.

Check out a few of his favorite “Words of Wisdom.”

* Both attraction and aversion disturb the mind.
Neutrally bearing both, the mind of the yogi remains tranquil.  From the (Ksama) one of the lesser known virtues of the niyamas.   Swami Kripalu.
* What I believe has no bearing on what is true.
 * If you come seeking wisdom, bring an empty bowl.
 * A wise man sitting on the banks of the river Ganges noticed a scorpion drowning in a pool at his feet. He reached down and rescued the creature only to be stung on the hand. A moment later the scorpion was struggling again in the pool, he again rescued the scorpion and again was stung. A passer by observed this and ask.” Why do you continue to rescue the scorpion knowing that you will be stung” The wise man replied.” It is the nature of the scorpion to sting, and it is the nature of man to forgive.

 * Whenever possible the yogi walks barefoot in the earth, digs in the garden, lies on the ground, breathes deeply of the pure air and lets it flow on his skin, lies in the sunlight and eats the foods nourished by the sun and freely drinks and bathes in it’s pure waters. “The Practice of yoga” as taught in the east and west. (1957)
* Be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to anger.  (James 1:19)
* He who thinks only good thoughts, speaks only good words and performs only good actions. Will soon become incapable of doing evil.  (Swami Vivekananda)
* Yoga is a perfect evenness of mind (Gita 2:47)

* There is no cause to worry. whether things go well or ill, devote yourself to the disciplines of yoga, for yoga is skill in action.  (Gita 2:49)
