9th ANNUAL BREWMASTERS CRAFT BEER FESTIVAL ANNOUNCED

Houston, Texas (June 28, 2018) …Toast to the end of summer at the 9th annual BrewMasters Craft Beer Festival in sunny Galveston Island, Texas.  Named a Top 3 beer event by USA TODAY and revered by beer lovers across the region, BrewMasters Craft Beer Festival is an immersive multi-day event over Labor Day weekend where visitors can tap into the world of craft beer on island time.  Visitors will flock to Galveston Island August 31 – September 2 in the pursuit of hoppiness and a craft beer experience unlike any other. With hundreds of craft beers, rare “Taste it First” selections, and a Brew-B-Que to boot, this 3-day event offers endless opportunities to learn from the best in the craft beer industry.

Whether you are a craft-loyal drinker looking for a new summer fav, or just a newbie learning the ropes, BrewMasters is the ultimate event for experiencing the distinctive world of craft beer. Clifton McDerby, Executive Director of Food & Vine Time Productions, Inc. explained “we have always focused on craft beer education, making sure that everyone who comes to this event can not only experience the widest selection of craft beers available at any Texas festival, but learn something from the craft masters themselves.  Intimately, we create a learning experience with immersion into the latest trends while attendees get the opportunity to taste and learn at the same time.”

The three-day festival is packed with beer, cheer, and plenty of foam-filled events happening each day over the Labor Day weekend. Friday night, August 31 kicks off at 7 p.m. with the spirited Nach-Yo Ordinary Tequila Tasting event featuring a range of high-quality tequila-tasting and plenty of salt and nachos for all.

Saturday, September 1 is all about craft beer, and the innovative breweries which make it happen. Want an intimate tasting experience with Texas’ finest? Then, the Texas Brewery Tasting Tour is for you.  This tour provides a rare opportunity to meet some of the most successful and emerging breweries in the

state. Guests will enjoy featured selections with each brewery offering a “Taste it First” selection and small group time with some of the most passionate and skilled brewers and owners in the industry.

Newly formatted this year, the Texas Brewery Tasting Tour is for VIPs starting at 2pm and then general admission will have access to taste these brews after the main doors open.

On Saturday afternoon, the ultimate BrewHaHa Grand Tasting begins with the chance to sample some of the best beer in the world.  Pay attention to the “Taste it First” selections, which offer an exclusive opportunity to sample never-before-tasted craft beers. Not a fan of waiting in line? The BrewHaHa VIP Premium Lounge provides early access to the tasting floor plus an exclusive space to get crafty with light bites, and premium sampling.  The VIP Zone opens at 2 p.m. with the Grand Tasting at 3 p.m.

Don’t miss a wide range of experts on the Beer University Stage including a return of the very popular Women in Craft Beer panel where the women of craft beer talk about the growth of women in the industry.  Meet James Simpson and Chad Pilbeam, hosts of What’s on Tap Radio and many, many, more.

Moody Gardens Palm Beach Opens in May

Moody Gardens Palm Beach opens for the summer with new attractions and entertainment. Various beach attractions include the 650-foot lazy river, wave pool and two 18-foot tower slides. Visitors are invited to sink their toes in the sand, lounge beneath the palm trees and enjoy the concerts and fireworks.  New improvements this year include additional private cabanas and bamboo lounges.

Palm Beach will be open weekends starting May 19, including Memorial Day. The attraction opens daily June 2 – Aug. 19. As the summer season winds down, Palm Beach will be open weekends only Aug. 25-Labor Day on Sept. 3. Admission is $23.95 for adults, $18.95 for children and seniors, or $65 for a season pass. Children age 3 and younger get in free.

 Enjoy the Bands on the Sand summer music series, June 8 – Aug. 11 Friday and Saturday nights from 6-10 p.m. Each show features local and regional R&B, rock, country and blues bands. Admission is $15 and children age 3 and younger get in for free. Each performance ends with a fireworks display over Offats Bayou, overlooking the Moody Gardens pyramids.

Dinos Alive Returns to Moody Gardens

Moody Gardens is taking visitors on a Jurassic adventure when Dinos Alive returns to Galveston Island this summer. Featuring life-like animatronic dinosaurs, including a full-size Tyrannosaurus, Dinos Alive guests become part of a rescue team sent back in time to search for a missing plane and its crew.

Along the way, they will get an up-close and personal experience with some of the most feared and amazing creatures to ever roam Planet Earth. Dinos Alive will also feature a hands-on archeological dig site, as well as a gift shop and photo opportunity.

The exhibit runs June 2 to August 12. Admission is $8.95.

Travel Tip: Parking for some of these events may be a little congested give yourself extra time for parking. Moody Gardens Hotel has the Convention Center parking garage for events that our located on property.

Sewall Parking: Hourly Rates and Annual Pass

The City of Galveston charges for parking along Seawall Blvd from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Visitors headed to the Seawall are now able to use a mobile app, the internet or mobile phone to pay for parking. 11 Days Until The Opening Of Ice Land and Festival Of Lights!

Moody Gardens is eagerly anticipating the grand opening of Ice Land:Rainforest Holiday and Festival of Lights! Finishing touches are being made to the ice and the lights are in place. On November 11, come out to our grand opening celebration! See jugglers and listen to live choirs sing and perform while waiting for the man of the hour…. Santa!

When Santa arrives, he will flip the switch, illuminating the entire Festival of Lights trail, signaling the official opening of Festival of Lights and Ice Land!

BrewMasters goes out with a bang on Saturday and Sunday night with Beach, Brews, and Bands at Moody Garden’s Palm Beach with a live concert each night at Palm Beach.  To top off the foam-filled weekend, don’t miss the Brew-B-Que, Sunday September 3 from 12 noon to 5 p.m. featuring smokin’ hot smokehouse specialties, live music and, of course, plenty of brews. Meet Rocky Stubbs from the infamous Stubb’s Barbecue empire, which started in 1968 when C.B. Stubblefield, “Stubb,” opened his first restaurant in Lubbock, Texas. Over the course of his life, Stubb perfected the art of barbecue, including making the sauces, marinades and rubs that today bring legendary Texas flavor to homes everywhere.  Stubb was well known for his trademark smile and infamous line… “Ladies and gentlemen, I’m a cook.”
