The 2015 Celebrating Women Conference Comes to the Moody Gardens Convention Center

Everyone needs to take a break from life and enjoy a weekend away with friends, and there is no better place to do so than the yearly Celebrating Women: Mind, Body, Spirit Conference in Galveston.

The eighth annual event is celebrating women Texas Style this year with a bigger, better conference than ever before. An estimated 800 guests are expected to descend upon the Moody Gardens Convention Center on April 17, 2015, for a full day of professional and social networking.

The festivities kick off at 8:30 a.m. with a warm welcome from keynote speakers Amie and Jolie Sikes. The spunky sisters are the stars of “The Junk Gypsy” on the Great American Country Channel, an interior design show that follows the Round Top, Texas, family business that turns junk into treasures.

Sponsored by the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce and UTMB Health, the conference offers professional development sessions and cutting-edge workshops on women’s health. New this year is the business development headquarters. The Galveston County Small Business Development Center plans to offer free consulting on sales, customers, financing and long-term planning.

UTMB physicians will lead discussions on choosing a healthier lifestyle and on timely topics, such as, “Teen Sexting, Cyberbullying and Other Trends in Social Media.” Dr. Jennifer Arnold, star of TLC’s “The Little Couple,” is slated as the featured speaker. Standing at 3-feet 2-inches tall, Dr. Arnold has a rare type of dwarfism. Surpassing all odds after more than 30 surgeries, she has achieved a well-deserved reputation as a leading neonatologist and pediatrician. She now serves as the medical director of the high-tech training center at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston.

Topping off this perfect girls’ day are the opportunities throughout the event to browse the vendor market for unique jewelry, clothing, cosmetics and gifts. For an additional $100, guests can purchase an all-access pass that grants entry into the Lone Star Luxury Lounge.
